Our Philosophy
Green Preschool at JCDS provides a warm and joyful Jewish environment inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach to teaching. We celebrate children’s strong, capable, and curious nature. Teachers facilitate learning through thoughtful, open-ended activities within intentionally crafted environments. A Closer Look
PHYSICAL DEVELOPMENT
Throughout the day, children are continuously provided with thoughtful activities that strengthen their gross and fine motor skills.
DRAMATIC PLAY
Play is the work of the child. The sort of complex play that supports development of language, cognition, and executive function includes, creating an imaginary situation, taking on and acting out roles, and following a set of rules determined by specific roles.
MATH
Children learn to recognize shapes and patterns, as well as investigate relationships among people and materials using numbers and measurements.
THE WORLD AROUND US
Children are natural scientists and experiential learners; planting in our garden, recycling materials, water and sensory play, all help children understand our world. We love to get dirty at Green Preschool at JCDS!

JEWISH LIFE
Green Preschool at JCDS, merges best practices in early childhood education with principles of Jewish education. We celebrate the yearly cycle of Jewish holidays introducing age-appropriate customs, values, literature, song and movement; Judaism is joyfully brought to life!
